Senior Training Schedule

Preseason training now reverts to outdoor sessions for the Senior Players of the Highton Cricket Club. Sessions will be run at McDonald’s reserve and will run on varying week nights and weekends over the next month. It is vitally important that all players refer to the schedule to ensure they are aware of training times and venues. If any players are unavailable to attend training, it is expected that they contact our club coach, Luke Daffy on 0481 162 925.  A decision was made by the playing group this week that if a player fails to reach a 75% attendance rate over the preseason, they will not be available for selection on Turf. A schedule of training can be seen below.

Turf Wicket and Curator

The H.C.C have managed to acquire the services of Mark McClure as Club Curator for the 2014/15 season. Mark is a very experienced and full time curator who has already been working very hard at preparing our centre wicket for the upcoming season. Over the weekend, Mark has resurfaced both our practice and centre wickets, and we thank him for the enormous work which he has already done for our club. Any questions or concerns regarding the area of ground maintenance should be directed towards our Club President, Damien McMahon who will then liaise with Mark directly.

Junior Sign On Night

Due to football finals and a large amount of Junior Members and families not being able to attend our initial Sign On Day, the Highton Cricket Club is running an extra Registration evening this Friday the 12th of September. The evening will begin at 5pm and conclude at 7.00pm. Clothing and apparel will be available to order and we remind all junior families that junior players will be required to wear coloured H.C.C polo tops for all games.

Clothing and Apparel

Kris Gretgrix will this year head up the Clothing and Apparel department for our cricket club. For queries, questions or to place an order, please contact Kris directly on 0438 996 620.

Social Functions

The Highton Cricket Club have already allocated dates for all functions this calendar year. Further information regarding all of these dates will be circulated in the coming weeks. An important date to record and place in your diary is our first club function. The Function will be themed, ‘A Night At The Races’ and it will be held on Saturday the 18th October. The evening will see live horse racing beamed on the big screen, fantasy betting, drink specials and finger food. The evening will cost only $20 and it will be a great way to start the year and to get to know fellow club members. Tickets can be pre-purchased and are available directly from myself, Luke Daffy via email or mobile on 0481 162 925.

Major fundraising for 2014/15

Each year, the H.C.C directs its attention towards a major fundraising goal to improve our club. This year, we have identified the need for a new Centre Wicket Roller. To meet the needs of our ground and the centre wicket, the club needs to purchase a brand new roller. The cost of this roller will be approximately $25,000 and acquiring such a resource, would benefit our club greatly. So with this figure as our benchmark, we have set the goal of raising $25,000 as a club over the course of the next season. Social functions, sponsorship and donations will help us to reach our goal and to develop our club further. To keep tracking of our fundraising efforts, the club will display a fundraising thermometer in the club rooms. We ask you to support our efforts and if you or anyone close to you know someone who may wish to sponsor, donate or assist us in our fundraising efforts, please contact our club President Damien McMahon on 0419 515 694.
